Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Pucelles 2010

Front Label

Back Label

We produced this Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Pucelles from Chardonnay vines with an age of nearly 45 years, sited in limestone soils with and eastern aspect, in the northern sector of the Pucelles parcel, due west of the fabled village of Puligny-Montrachet. The growing season and harvest in 2010 were superb for Chardonnay with wonderful ripeness of fruit, purity and minerality. Bottled after 14 months in barrel this is a wine of real complexity, richness and structure.

Tasting Notes

Pale gold in colour, tinged with green. Lovely intense, powerful, rich nose of green apple, pear and gooseberry with lemon, acacia honey, spice, caramel and flint notes.

On the palate the wine is full and rich, yet with a beautifully defined acidic structure and steely minerality that runs through the core. There are plenty of ripe fruit elements with notes of lemon, apricot, pear and greengage along with hints of ginger, smoke, hazelnut and shortbread biscuit. The finish is intense and long with minerality and texture of fruit perfectly balanced throughout.
