Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cr La Maltroie 2009

Front Label

We produced this Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru La Maltroie from Chardonnay vines with an average age of nearly 40 years, nicely positioned with a south-east aspect, lying near the centre of the medieval village of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vines here are planted in heavy limestone soils layered with clay and gravel. The growing season and the harvest in 2006 were superb for Chardonnay with wonderful ripeness of fruit, purity and minerality. Bottled after 15 months in barrel, this is a wine of real fruit character, richness and structure which we really hope that you will enjoy.

Tasting Notes

Deep straw in colour tinged through with gold. Rich and powerful on the nose with intense notes of hazelnut, cream, lemon rind, toasted coconut, shortbread and pineapple.
On the palate the wine displays lovely weight and mouthfeel. Nice intensity of flavour with a soft acidic structure and attractive mineral and slate elements. The finish is long and smooth with creamy gooseberry and greengage fruit.
