Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru 2010

Front Label

Back Label

We produced this Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru from Pinot Noir vines with an average age of just over 45 years, harvested from sites to the east and south-west of the ancient village of Aloxe-Corton. The vines here are planted in a mix of limestone soils with good mineral and iron content, layered through with pebbles. The growing season and the harvest conditions in 2005 were superb and the concentration, balance and ripeness of fruit were all excellent. Bottled after 16 months in barrel, this is a wine of real elegance, length and purity which we really hope that you will enjoy.

Tasting Notes

Blood red core, fading to a pinkish purple rim. Intense, complex, layered nose - really ripe black cherry, loganberry, raisin, clove and demerera sugar with roasted fig and spice notes.

Lovely smooth mouthfeel - ultrafine tannins which are both dry yet supple also. Excellent acidic profile, really lifted and pure. Ripe, round and full in the mouth with griotte and spiced plum fruit and hints of black pepper. Beautiful structure and length. Really fine.
